How to Add a WordPress Contact Widget in the Sidebar

Do you want to make it easy for visitors to contact you? If so, you can display your information with a WordPress contact widget.

This is a simple addition that allows you to show information like an email address, phone number, fax number, address, social media profiles, and more.

Displaying this type of information is essential for business opportunities and customer convenience.

Today, I will demonstrate how to add a WordPress contact widget by using the Contact Widgets plugin.

Why Add Contact Information

Depending on the nature of your website, giving visitors the ability to contact you may be vital.

For example, if you are a freelance writer, it is quite common for customers to contact you through email. Thus, displaying that information on your website is essential for success.

However, there are plenty of other reasons.

If you own a physical location, your website is most likely intended to help people find where you are. Thus, displaying your address is imperative and you can even go a step further by using Google Maps.

Installing Contact Widgets

Contact Widgets is an extremely popular plugin with over 600,000 active installs. The plugin is simple and easy to use, which makes it ideal for beginners. It has everything that even the most experienced developer needs.

You can add the widget to your website’s sidebar in under 5 minutes. Let’s begin!

Using Contact Widgets

As the name implies. this plugin adds a new widget that you can customize. The widget has a very simple WordPress contact form that you will need to fill out.

On the left-hand admin panel click on Appearance and select the Widgets option. Here you can add and remove WordPress widgets from your website.

Widgets

Locate the Contact Details widget and drag it into your sidebar area.

Locate Contact Details

The widget is very simple. The first entry field is the title. Most websites will use “Contact Information” or “Contact Us” or something similar.

The second field is your email address. I recommend creating an email specifically for this field. Unfortunately, posting your email address results in it being spammed regularly. Thus, you should make it its own thing.

The third and fourth fields are the phone and fax number respectively. Simply enter the numbers that are best to reach your business.

Lastly, you can enter your physical address. Underneath this box, you will see an option to display a map of the address. If you check this box, a Google Map will appear. It is a great addition, but depending on how much space you want this to take up, the choice is yours.

You will also see an option to include the labels. The labels refer to the words, Email, Phone, Fax, and Address. I recommend leaving this box checked.

The widget is also customizable. You can rearrange the order of the information displayed by dragging it up or down.

If you would like to omit a piece of information, simply leave it blank. The label will not appear if you do. Once, you have entered all of the information, click on the “Save” button.

Save Button

You can now view the contact information on your website. If the map is not linking to the correct location, double-check the information you entered.

Now Viewable

Congratulations, you have successfully added a contact card to your website.

Make Yourself Available

The entire point of displaying your contact information is so visitors can actually contact you. Thus, you need to make sure you regularly check what is posted.

You do not want to miss a customer’s email or phone call. Odds are if you miss it once, you will never hear from them again. You should also consider adding some social media icons as well.

These will help your visitors connect with you on the various platforms you are located on.

How long did it take you to add your contact information on WordPress? Did you display a map on your sidebar?
